2009 Featured Latina Artist

Artist Biography: Jacqueline received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2003.  She earned a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, in 2006. During her journey in education she discovered a passion for creation.  She fell in love with art and the creative process every time she set out to create a new masterpiece.

While attending the University of Texas in El Paso she discovered her passion for art which has allowed her creativity to grow and flourish.  She hasn’t fully come to terms with thinking of herself as a professional artist.  She feels she is still learning and growing in her artistic career.  She finds inspiration in all kinds of places.  She collects graphic design books, art books, magazines.  She has become quite the hoarder of eclectic things which finds their way into her work. She finds that ideas and images are constantly going in through her brain, getting jumbled together and coming out through her hands as art.  It’s a fulfilling process that keeps her excited about life and feeds her creative soul.

After attending the University of North Texas she agreed to take a job as an art teacher.  She learns from her students that everyone has a purpose on this planet to do something for the greater good and everyone needs to figure out what it is.  We have been given the tools for doing it but usually are not aware that we even have those capabilities inside us.  Our passions and childlike incidences for trying something new, helps to point us in a direction that leads us to our destiny. “I enjoy inspiring others to tap in and find their inner artist.  Never in a million years did I think I would be teaching children to create art, but here I am and I truly feel that inspiring creativity and free thinking could possibly be my purpose in life.”

Many thanks to Jacqueline Falcon, our featured Latina Artist, for donating three pieces to help HWNT mentor and provide scholarships for our Latinas In Progress students.
